ROME MARATHON 2011, Siraj Gena, Jonathan Yego Kiptoo, Rosalba Console, Firehiwot Dado

ROME MARATHON 2011: THE ROYALTY ARE BACK
First top runners announced today for the Rome Marathon 2011.
MEN
Two runners capable of 2:06 are up for the challenge. Kenya’s Teimet Sylvester Kimeli from Kenya, born on July 4 1984, winner and course-record holder of the Seoul Marathon 2010 (2:06.49, PB), and David Kipkorir Mandago, June 21 1978, who won the Rome Marathon 2006 (2:08.38) and has a PB of 2:06.53 (recorded at the Paris Marathon 2009).
Rome Marathon 2010 winner Siraj Gena (Ethiopia, July 4 1984) will try to perform an encore, after last year’s barefoot Bikila.-celebrating triumph. Kenya’s Jonathan Yego Kiptoo (January 1 1976) will try to steal the scene again like he did in 2008, when he was the first to cross the finish next to the Coliseum in 2:09.58.
WOMEN
Italy’s best marathoner Rosalba Console (December 17 1979) is in. This is her third Rome Marathon. She finished 4th in the last Berlin Marathon, clocking a superb 2:26.45 (PB), and will be for sure a front runner. Her main competitor will be Firehiwot Dado (January 9 1984), Rome-winner 2009 and 2010. The Ethiopian athlete (PB 2:25.28, winner of the Paris Marathon 2008) is targeting the third win in a row.
